Hilde, Tom and Jeroen have over 70 years of combined experience in arbitration. They will use their expertise to further grow and professionalise arbitration, binding advice and mediation in the Netherlands and abroad.
The board now consists of: Hilde van der Baan, Tom Claassens, Jeroen van Hezewijk, Eric Dorrestijn and Erik Jan Reuver.
Resigning board members
On 1 July 2025, Gerard Meijer, Carla Klaassen and Bregje Korthals Altes will step down as board members. The NAI would like to thank them for their many years of dedicated service to the NAI. Under their leadership, the NAI has taken important steps in digitisation, transparency and international positioning.
The NAI
The NAI focuses on the fast, efficient and expert resolution of disputes, particularly for the business community. Dispute resolution through the NAI is therefore a popular alternative to going to court. Read more about the differences between arbitration and the courts here.
Disputes are settled by one or three arbitrators who are either appointed by the parties themselves or by the NAI from a pool of expert and experienced individuals. A professional staff led by secretary general Tomas Vaal handles the day-to-day operations.
The NAI Advisory Board supports the NAI board in the performance of its duties. The Advisory Board includes representatives from academia, the legal profession, the judiciary and the business community.
Hilde van der Baan’s response:
“I am honoured to take on this role. Together with Tom and Jeroen, I look forward to continuing the work of our predecessors and taking new steps for the NAI, together with the NAI staff and our community of arbitrators, lawyers and in-house counsel.”
